'Beautiful And Brutal' Anthony Bourdain Film Added To Netflix Is Leaving Viewers Heartbroken

The new Anthony Bourdain documentary is leaving people heartbroken. Watch the trailer here:

Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain landed on Netflix recently and has been described as 'beautiful' by those who have seen it so far.

The film centres on the life and work of the late chef and writer, who was found dead in his hotel room in France back in 2018, following his rise to fame and his battles with depression.

A synopsis for the film reads: "It's not where you go. It's what you leave behind…Chef, writer, adventurer, provocateur: Anthony Bourdain lived his life unabashedly.

"Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain is an intimate, behind-the-scenes look at how an anonymous chef became a world-renowned cultural icon.

"From Academy Award-winning filmmaker Morgan Neville, this unflinching look at Bourdain reverberates with his presence, in his own voice and in the way he indelibly impacted the world around him."

The touching portrait of the filmmaker's incredible life has left many viewers 'heartbroken'.

Writing on Twitter, one user said: "Just finished watching Roadrunner on Netflix about the life of Anthony Bourdain. Beautiful and brutal. If you ever enjoyed anything he did, strongly recommend it."

Another wrote: "Just finished the doc Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain, which is now on Netflix. Amazing and honest portrayal of a flawed genius, I’m not sure if you can actually miss people you’ve never met, but it feels the world misses Anthony Bourdain."

"Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain doc on Netflix is fantastic and heartbreaking in equal measures. Highly recommended," put someone else.

While another added: "Just finished watching Roadrunner: A Film About Anthony Bourdain and It's hard not to feel connected to someone so raw.

"A flawed genius who saw the beauty and the tragedy in everything around him."

In recent years, Bourdain became best known for his food series, Parts Unknown, which saw him travel the world, learning about different cultures and cuisines.

He was actually filming a new series in Strasbourg in France at the time of his death.

Announcing the tragic news, CNN released a statement which read: "It is with extraordinary sadness we can confirm the death of our friend and colleague, Anthony Bourdain.

"His love of great adventure, new friends, fine food and drink and the remarkable stories of the world made him a unique storyteller.

"His talents never ceased to amaze us and we will miss him very much. Our thoughts and prayers are with his daughter and family at this incredibly difficult time."
