Hugh Jackman's Response To James Franco Winning Best Actor At The Golden Globes Was Priceless

Hugh Jackman’s face told us all that he wasn’t best pleased with the outcome of the award. We’ve all been there…

We've all been there. You've done all the work and done a great job, but someone else comes along and gets all the recognition that you feel like you deserve.

Well, Hugh Jackman has been there.

Unluckily for Hugh, the moment was captured on cameras and shown live on TV to millions. You'd think that as a famed actor of both the stage and screen, he'd be a bit better at hiding his obvious disbelief from the watching masses.

At tonight's 75th Golden Globe awards, Jackman was spotted looking on as if his cat had just been run over as he was beaten to the Best Actor in a Musical or Comedy Motion Picture award by James Franco.

Franco won for his performance as Tommy Wiseau in The Disaster Artist. Wiseau became infamous in Hollywood as the determined and frankly bizarre mastermind behind The Room - widely regarded to be one of the worst films ever made.

Jackman clearly thought his performance as the showman and circus entrepreneur PT Barnum in The Greatest Showman should have earned him the award.

The strange part is, Jackman not winning the award isn't even the biggest travesty that arose from that particular award, as you can see in the video below...

When he accepted his award, Franco called up Tommy Wiseau to the stage to thank him personally and give him a chance to soak up the award.

What he probably didn't envisage was that Wiseau would try to grab the microphone from him, prompting Franco to awkwardly tell him not to do so.

He deserves to have his award stripped from him for denying us what could have been the best moment of this - or any - awards ceremony ever.

Instead we are destined to forever wonder what pearls of wisdom the madcap visionary Wiseau could have offered us.

To be fair, though, Franco has spent about 20 years in the business and this is his first major film award (although he won a TV Golden Globe in 2002 for his portrayal of James Dean).

I still can't help but wonder though...

Needless to say, his reaction has not gone unnoticed by the beady eyes of the internet, and lots of Twitter users have sympathised with the Australian actor.

Oh well, can't win 'em all, eh Hugh?
