Daniel Radcliffe Finally Responds To Rumours He Could Be The Next Wolverine

Daniel Radcliffe Finally Responds To Rumours He Could Be The Next Wolverine

There have been speculations the Harry Potter star could be picked to take on the iconic clawed X-men character.

Actor Daniel Radcliffe has finally addressed claims he could be next in line to play the legendary mutant Wolverine.

With Hugh Jackman hanging up his claws on the role back in 2017 with the film Logan, rumours quickly developed over who would be given the ultimate honour in portraying the MCU (Marvel Cinematic Universe) character.

Taron Egerton’s (Rocketman, Kingsman) name was being whispered in parts of Hollywood that he could be up for the role.

However, he has shut down that speculation more than once, leading to pundits suggesting other actors who could potentially play the X-Men icon.

It wasn’t long before the Harry Potter star was thrown onto the list of names.

But now, just like his predecessors, Radcliffe shut down the rumours during the premiere of his new film, The Lost City.

Speaking to ComicBook.com, Radcliffe said: “So many times, people come to me like, ‘Hey man, heard about the Wolverine news, that’s pretty cool.’ No, I don’t know anything about it'."

In referencing the cause of the rumours, he added: “I appreciate that somebody is clearly going like ‘Wolverine’s actually short in the comic books, you should get like a short guy to do it!’ I don’t see them going from Hugh Jackman to me.

“But who knows? Prove me wrong, Marvel.”

With Disney reassembling and re-acquiring Marvel Studios characters, the return of Wolverine to the MCU has been hotly anticipated.

MCU reboots of X-Men and Fantastic Four are expected, with the recent Spider-Man trilogy proving to be hugely successful at the box office.

While there is no confirmed timeline for the return of the mutant mob to the X-Men films, it is highly expected that the release of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will feature some big name superheroes.

In the official trailer for the film, an off-screen voice resembling Patrick Stewart’s Charles Xavier seemingly confirmed the X-Men are on their way.

While Hugh Jackman will always be synonymous with the role, within the comic-books Wolverine is actually described as being 5’3”, so the writing may just be on the wall for a short king to take on the portrayal.

Go on Marvel, Daniel Racliffe has dared you to hire him for the legendary character.
