ITV has pulled a documentary about serial killers Fred and Rose West, which was due to air this evening.

The programme, titled Fred and Rose West: The Real Story with Trevor McDonald, should have hit screens at 9pm tonight, but earlier this evening ITV began advertising that Trevor McDonald's Death Row - a repeat - would be on instead.

The show was due to air at 9pm tonight.

On Twitter, TV Choice tweeted to say: "We have just been told the @ITV documentary Fred & Rose West: The Real Story With Trevor McDonald will NOT be shown tonight. We will let you know once we know the new transmission date!"

Viewers have responded to the post questioning why ITV has decided not to air the show.

A representative from ITV told LADbible: "Broadcast has been postponed for legal reasons and the film will be scheduled for a later date."

The documentary reportedly saw McDonald visit the site of the 25 Cromwell, dubbed 'the house of horrors', which has since been demolished.

According to ITV, the show also featured interviews with people close to the case who hadn't previously spoken about the killings.

The news that the show was pulled comes hours after the sisters of one of the Wests' victims - Juanita Mott - appeared on This Morning to speak about their ordeal.

Sister Mary-Ann told the hosts of the daytime TV show: "I'd like to see her rot in hell to be honest. I hope when her girlfriend is released from prison it rips her heart out.

"She will never get out and even if she does there will be a queue waiting. This is where I feel the death penalty is needed when there is no doubt."

The Wests were arrested for murdering 12 women and girls, including their own daughter, in a vile spree that lasted from 1967 and 1987.

Fred killed himself in prison while awaiting trial.

However, Rose was convicted for 10 murders in 1995 and handed a whole-life term, meaning she will never be released. During her trial, she claimed she didn't know anything about the torture, rape and murder carried out in her home.
