The first official trailer for new animated series, Disenchantment, has finally been released.

Netflix teased us last month with a short clip of the series but now the streaming service has debuted the full trailer of the show from The Simpsons and Futurama creator, Matt Groening.

The programme follows princess Bean, voiced by Abbi Jacobson, who likes a beer or two, her elf companion, Elfo (wonder how long it took them to come up with that), and her personal demon, Luci - because we all have those.

The unlikely trio navigate the 'crumbling medieval kingdom' of Dreamland. According to the official description, the series will see them crossing paths with 'ogres, sprites, harpies, imps, trolls, walruses, and lots of human fools'.

Sound like anyone's daily lunch run?

Before the trailer dropped, comparisons had already been drawn between Disenchantment and Groening's monumentally popular creation, The Simpsons, which this year aired its 636th episode and overtook Gunsmoke to become the US's longest running scripted TV series of all time.

The snapshots bore a striking resemblance to the animation from The Simpsons, and the statement describing Disenchantment's central character 'Bean' as 'hard-drinking' had echos of the constantly cotton-mouthed Homer.

According to Comic Book, the series was given a two-season order by Netflix earlier this year with a total of 20 episodes and judging by The Simpsons there could be scope to extent much further.

Disenchantment was produced by The ULULU Company, with Groening and Josh Weinstein serving as executive producers. The series is being animated by Rough Draft Studios, who previously worked with Groening on Futurama.

Netflix vice president, Cindy Holland, said: "Matt Groening's brilliant work has resonated with generations around the world and we couldn't be happier to work with him on Disenchantment.

"The series will bear his trademark animation style and biting wit, and we think it's a perfect fit for our many Netflix animation fans."

Elfo will be voiced by Nat Faxon, who played Raymond the Bear in The Cleveland Show and has also provided numerous voices for Family Guy.

And Eric Andre from The Eric Andre Show and The Lion King will voice Luci, with a host of other comedic voices to play the additional characters.

These will include John DiMaggio (Bender from Futurama),Maurice LaMarche (also Futurama) and Tress MacNeille (Futurama as well) is anyone seeing a pattern here, or is it just me?

Just me? Oh, well, David Herman will also voice a character, his previous roles include Bee Movie, Dude, Where's My Car? and guess what else - Futurama.

Season one of Disenchantment will debut on 17 August on Netflix.
