Filming for the third season of Killing Eve is underway and new photos reveal that Villanelle is back on form, waving a gun around while dressed as a cop.

In a number of snaps, actor Jodie Comer can be seen wearing leather trousers, a hi-vis jacket and a cop's helmet while pointing a gun at someone inside a car. Classic Villanelle.

Who is inside the car is anyone's guess, but actress Fiona Shaw was also photographed on the set - so does that mean there might be bad news for Carolyn Martens in upcoming episodes?

As yet, plot details are being kept strictly under wraps after season two ended in one helluva cliffhanger with Eve (played by Sandra Oh) possibly dead after being shot by Villanelle.

In the tense scene, Villanelle told Eve: "You love me. I love you, I do. You're mine. You are. You are mine." But when Eve knocked her back, she took her revenge by opening fire.

However, fans are pretty sure that Eve will survive the shooting and be back on our screens for the third instalment.

What we do know, is that Killing Eve season three will have a brand new showrunner in the form of Suzanne Heathcote, who has previously worked on Fear the Walking Dead.

She will be taking over the reins from Emerald Fennell, who wrote the last season.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge, who wrote the first season and is an executive producer, said: "I'm very excited that the Killing Eve baton is being passed onto another incredible writer for season three. We can sleep soundly knowing these characters are safe in Suzanne Heathcote's hilariously murderous hands."

The show is based on the novella series Codename Villanelle by author Luke Jennings and has been a massive success, both with fans and in terms of critical acclaim.

Speaking to the Metro about Killing Eve's success, Comer, 26, said: "The reaction to season one was insane and unexpected. 'We all believed in the show and were so passionate when making it but you can never second guess how the audience is going to take it.

"The response was enormous; there were some incredible Villanelle Halloween costumes and fan art. I've never been part of a show that's had such an amazing reaction so it's been really lovely."

As yet, there's no release date for the third season but you can catch up with the first two on BBC iPlayer in the UK.
