There's good news for fans of classic mafia flicks, but there's something for everyone as Netflix drip-feeds us new films, TV shows, and some old favourites for good measure.

As the old saying goes: New Year, New Netflix.

Yes, about the only decent thing about the month of January is the fact that it is usually when Netflix chooses to refresh what series and films you can now stream on the site.

Well, if you're wondering what to watch on Netflix to distract you from the miserable weather, long dark nights, and post-Christmas poverty, you've come to the right place.

As well as a load of new shows and films, there are also a load of Netflix Original series' and stand-up comedy videos that will become available.

There will be second seasons for the popular Ozark, and Mindhunter as well as Luke Cage and GLOW.

13 Reasons Why, Better Call Saul, and Arrested Development will also be returning for new seasons.

Later in the year we will see the release of the first ever TV show to be directed by Joel and Ethan Coen, the legendary brothers who brought The Big Lebowski and No Country For Old Men to the big screen.

The Ballad of Buster Scruggs will no doubt be a huge hit and will star James Franco.

These new additions come alongside a load of other programmes that have been added that are not Netflix series' originally, but are stone cold classics nonetheless.

The Godfather Trilogy, the Lethal Weapon series, The Shawshank Redemption, The Italian Job, and The Truman Show are all at your fingertips already.

Yesterday (January 10) and Today (January 11) saw the addition of 2016's Grimm - a dark fairy tale about a man who realises he must protect the world from monsters, and Good Time, a film about a botched bank robbery starring Jennifer Jason-Leigh and Robert Pattinson.

If you're not excited by that, there are some shows that are releasing weekly episodes throughout the year's coldest and most unforgiving month that might warm you up slightly.

Riverdale, Van Helsing, and A Series of Unfortunate Events will be continuing this month - whereas The Wachowski's Sense8 will reach its conclusion at some point in the next year.

That should be enough to keep you going through this depressing time of the year.

Let's face it, it'll practically be spring once you've sat down and watched The Godfather Trilogy, the Lethal Weapon series, and Aziz Ansari's Master of None end to end, so get stuck in.
