Judi Dench Has Legendary Response To Reporter's Bizarre Virginity Question

"We don’t deserve Dame Judi"

Dame Judi Dench was confronted by a bit of an awkward question at the Oscars red carpet on Sunday (27 March).

But instead of doling out a slap around the face, the Hollywood star gave the interviewer a truly legendary answer.

It all started when comedian Guillermo Rodriguez, who was on duty at the 94th Academy Awards for Jimmy Kimmel Live, came face to face with Judi.

He asked: “[Do you] want to say hello to the person that you lost your virginity to?”

Looking understandably perplexed, she says, “Lost my virginity to?” But her stern look turns to a smirk as she adds: “Long dead.”

What an absolute sport, and the internet clearly agrees, with dozens of comments from people singing their praises for the 87-year-old star.

Sharing the clip, one wrote, “I love Dame Judi Dench so f*****g much" while another said: “We don’t deserve Dame Judi.”

A third chimed in: “I’m losing my mind to Dame Judi Dench’s answer to Guillermo asking if she wanted to say hello to the person she lost her virginity to.”

Although the acting icon didn’t take home the Oscar for Best Supporting Actress for her role in Belfast, she did receive a bit of advice.

This year’s hosts Regina Hall and Wanda Sykes poked fun at Kim Kardashian’s 'nobody wants to work these days' comment by jokingly telling Judi that she has to ‘work harder’.

Regina said: “Dame Judi Dench, we have an inspirational quote for you,” before Wanda added: ''You know because you didn't win tonight.”

Regina continued: “A quote from Kim Kardashian... work harder.”

Judi certainly saw the funny side, as did the rest of the audience who burst into laughter at the joke.

This marked one of the many Oscars moments that were overshadowed by the Will Smith/Chris Rock saga.

At the ceremony, Smith approached Rock on stage and hit him for making a joke at his wife Jada Pinkett Smith’s expense.

Comedians and celebrities around the world have growing concerns that Smith's Oscars slap may have a trickle-down effect on comedy shows - even on a local level.

Star Wars' Mark Hamill summed the feeling up, writing: "Stand-up comics are very adept at handling hecklers. Violent physical assault... not so much."

Hamill’s tweet drew the distinction between speech and action, which American radio personality Howard Stern echoed on his SiriusXM radio show.

“You don’t hit people over speech, certainly not at the Academy Awards, and Will Smith’s got to contain himself," Stern said.

Jim Carrey agreed, saying that 'if you want to yell from the audience and show disapproval or say something on Twitter [that’s ok]'.

"You do not have the right to walk up on stage and smack somebody in the face ‘cuz they said words," the comedy great added.
