Amy Schumer has shared a naked picture of herself to her more than 10 million followers on Instagram.

While that would usually cause a publicist to lose their mind, it's hoped the reason behind the snap will help normalise a part of childbirth.

The 39-year-old covered her private parts but showed off the scars that linger from getting a cesarean section.

The actor and stand-up comedian gave birth to baby Gene in 2019 and revealed she had to get the procedure.

Writing on Instagram, she said: "Feeling like my c section looks cute today! #hotgirlwinter #csection"

She was met with loads of praise from her famous pals and random fans who reckon she is awesome for revealing what her body looks like.

Wife of comedian Jerry Seinfeld, Jessica Seinfeld, said: "Whatever transported Genie on this planet is to be relished. P.S. body."

Singer Vanessa Carlton added: "Feel like mine lookin' hot today too! What a coincidence!"

While writer Lesley Arfin wrote, "Uh yeah it does. Mine looks like the Pringles guy."

Amy explained that her pregnancy was a tough experience because she had hyperemesis, a condition that causes 'persistent vomiting, usually with electrolyte abnormalities, ketosis and weight loss'.

The condition affects around three per cent of pregnancies, however it can cause terrible outcomes for the baby if it's severe.

During an interview on Anna Faris' Unqualified podcast, Amy said she won't be adding to her family via the traditional methods again.

"I, for my safety, cannot be pregnant again," she said. "One in three mothers with hyperemesis, what I had, one in three babies don't make it.

"So I really don't like those odds. Just because you're vomiting so much you can't nourish your baby or yourself, so my pregnancy was a huge bummer."

She has indicated that she and husband Chris Fischer would like to have another child, however it would probably be through surrogacy.

To conceive Gene, the couple had to do IVF, which Amy documented on social media.

In one picture she wrote: "I'm a week into IVF and feeling really run down and emotional. If anyone went through it and if you have any advice or wouldn't mind sharing your experience with me please do.

"My number is in my bio. We are freezing my eggs and figuring out what to do to give Gene a sibling."
