Former TOWIE star Gemma Collins has revealed that she once shot a sex tape in case she ever went broke and needed to make some quick cash.

Speaking on Piers Morgan's Life Stories, the 40-year-old said that if circumstances required, she planned on 'doing a Kim Kardashian' and would flog her X-rated vid for £1 million (AUD $1.8m).

Asked whether she kept the video - which apparently features her and an unnamed man - Gemma said: "Well course, I might go skint one day, and I've gotta do a Kim K. Do you know what? Sex sells.

"It's probably about 20 minutes long, but we've all done it with our partners, you know. I'm normal.

"I'd like to set up a pay-to-view line where they ring in, I take £1.50 on the phone call and then £3 or a fiver to watch the thing, so I'd be cashing in myself but I don't know if that's possible."

While the audience seemed amused by the revelation, host Piers Morgan dug into the reality TV star.

Piers asked Gemma if 'everything' of hers was for sale, which seemed to leave her stumped.

"I'm not prepared to do it. I'd rather go and work 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year before I'd have to resort to that," she said.

"I'm gonna go home and delete it after you've given me the riot act about it."

In the interview with the Good Morning Britain host, Gemma also spoke out about the abuse she's dealt with as a result of being in the limelight.

Speaking of one shocking example while she was out with her mum, she said: "It was so embarrassing once, I was taking my mum for lunch, a van pulled up and they started abusing me.

"It wasn't for me, I felt so hurt that that happened in front of my mum. 'Look at you stuffing your face.' Again, I'm used to it but I didn't want my mum to hear it."

When the TV host asked Gemma what they specifically called her, she replied as she held back tears: "A fat c***."

Even though she tried to wave it off when it happened, she could see her mum Joan was upset by the remarks.

But that one occasion is emblematic of a much larger problem that Gemma faces every day with trolls criticising her on social media.

"You don't forget it but that's the downside of fame. I'm a lot more comfortable now in my own skin," she said.
