Tom Holland has set social media ablaze with speculation that Tobey Maguire is in Spider-Man: No Way Home.

The current webslinger posted a meme of Tobey's Peter Parker from the 2002 original origin film where he tries out his new skills in a wrestling match.

The meme essentially pokes fun at the idea of someone who is dressed head to toe in a Spider-Man fan outfit waiting in line at the cinema to get tickets.

Holland ripped the meme from a Twitter user who went viral for the same post.

However, people on social media were surprised that Holland would choose Tobey Maguire to promote No Way Home instead of an image of his own Spider-Man.

Some even think this was Holland teasing that the original Peter Parker will be in the third film of Holland's trilogy.

There is a lot of speculation that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield will be in No Way Home because the third film opens up the multiverse.

A damaged spell cast by Doctor Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) ends up opening a portal that allows villains from previous trilogies to come through.

The trailers have already revealed we'll get to see the likes of Doctor Octopus, Green Goblin, Sandman, Lizard and Electro, however they haven't shed light on Maguire or Garfield.

You can imagine seeing three Spider-Man characters in one film, let alone one scene, would be up there in the MCU lore as Captain America holding Thor's hammer. So, it's no surprise that they might want to keep the big moment for when people sit down in the cinema.

Andrew Garfield already ruled himself out of appearing in the film and Holland said they won't be in it either.

"People don't believe me when I say that [Maguire and Garfield] are not coming back," he said, according to ScreenRant.

"But people are going to have to believe me at some point. It means a lot to me.

"The first time you see Doc and the rest of the characters that come back, it's so exciting - and it's such a huge moment in cinematic history. It's three generations coming together."

Looks like we'll have to wait and see when Spider-Man: No Way Home drops on December 17.
