Lewis Capaldi has won over legions of fans with his sad songs and hilarious social media posts. His debut album went to number one and broke records.
Power ballads are a lucrative business, as reports say the Scottish star has a cool £19 million in the bank.
That figure is only set to rise after he is back from his self-enforced social media hiatus with a new single, and he recently opened up about being diagnosed with Tourette's.
To promote the new tune, fans have been seeing a lot more of Lewis after he stripped down to his pants for billboard posters, and made Lorraine Kelly blush when he offered her "seven inches".
When he was trying to get a record deal, Lewis lived in a flatshare with Yungblud, who joked that the pair got “into all sorts of trouble”, adding “I think we kept Stella Artois in business for those two years.”
He disappeared from socials for a while to work on the follow up to 2019’s Divinely Uninspired To A Hellish Extent, which shot to the top of the charts to become the best-selling album in the UK in five years.
It spent ten weeks at number one, and then spent 77 weeks in the top ten, smashing a record previously held by his mate Ed Sheeran.
One of the singles from the album, Someone You Loved, spent 7 weeks at number one.
After previously living with his parents and sharing videos with fans of his beloved “New York Bedroom” with themed wallpaper, Capaldi splashed out on a property of his own for £1.6 million.
It has been undergoing serious renovations, with the home near Glasgow boasting 10 acres of land, and he has had the go ahead to build a swimming pool at the lavish house.
Planning permission documents showed a 10mx5m pool with floor-to-ceiling windows, plus a spa and sauna. He will also have a media room, a home cinema, extending the master bedroom and a new kitchen.
The old stables will be a gym and exercise room.
He has 1.3 million followers on Twitter, 5.5 million on Instagram, and 3.5 million on TikTok.
He’s come a long way since he complained of being “skint” a few years ago, and car-sharing a mint green Ford Fiesta with his mum.
With new tour dates, a single and a forthcoming new album that he has been working on with Dan Smith of Bastille, his success is only going to continue.
