Pharrell Williams' Reaction To This Music Student's Song Is Priceless

Pharrell is more than happy.

Now Pharrell has been universally forgiven for subjecting 'Happy' on the world and making children's birthday parties worse than they already were, we can remember that he is actually one of the most prevalent producers of the last decade or so.

He is the man behind Justin Timberlake's 'Like I Love You', Clipse's 'Grindin', and of course just about every N*E*R*D song (along with The Neptunes).

Regardless of personal opinions, the man has a firm stance on popular music and knows what's hot and what's not. If you want to know if you have a potential hit on your hands, he's a good man to have within reach.

Back in March, Williams hosted a masterclass at New York University's Tisch School of the Arts.

During this time he sat down with young artist Maggie Rogers. She mentioned that she has a history in banjo music but she's venturing into synthy- borderline dance floor beats. Quite frankly, the song she plays has one of the best drum arrangements of anything out there right now.

In this video (watch from 18 mins), the pop music veteran listens back to the track and the reaction is that of a man who is astounded and moved by what he's hearing.

It's fair to say he's impressed by the track and as for feedback, he finds it pretty difficult to say anything constructive: "I have zero, zero, zero notes for that, and I'll tell you why... you're doing your own thing. It's singular".

He then went on to talk about Wu-Tang Clan, which may or may not have gone over young Maggie's head, but hopefully we will get to hear more of her in the future.

You can check out more of her music here.
