Scarlett Johansson praises ex-husband Ryan Reynolds when asked about short marriage

Scarlett Johansson has opened up on her marriage with Ryan Reynolds, with Johansson describing her ex-husband as a 'good guy'.

Yep, that's right. A former couple that are actually on good terms and don't have a bad word to say about each other after separating.

Of course, Bruce Willis and his ex-wife Demi Moore are the gold-standard when it comes to this, with Moore even attending the ceremony that saw Willis renew his vows to Emma Heming Willis in 2019.

While Reynolds and Johansson will likely not get that close, there certainly seems to be some respect there, which is good to see.

Johansson got onto the topic of previous marriages during an appearance on Gwyneth Paltrow’s Goop podcast.

"You’ve been married two times? Paltrow asked, to which the Black Widow star corrected her to say that she has actually been married three times.

"Oh that’s right, because I forgot that you were married to Ryan Reynolds, goals!" Paltrow replied.

After laughing at the podcast host's comment, Johansson opened up about her marriage with the Wrexham FC owner.

"We weren’t married very long, but we were when I first met you, for Iron Man or whatever," she recalled.

Paltrow then praised Reynolds herself, adding: "We love a good Ryan Reynolds in our house."

Before Johansson laughed and added: "He's a good guy."

The two actors were actually not together for very long, with them tying the knot in a private ceremony back in September 2008.

However, less than two years later in July 2010, the couple called in quits, with the divorce being finalised in December of that year.

"After long and careful consideration on both our parts, we’ve decided to end our marriage," the pair said at the time, via People.

"We entered our relationship with love and it’s with love and kindness we leave it. While privacy isn’t expected, it’s certainly appreciated."

Elsewhere in the podcast, Johansson was asked what she had learnt from her previous marriages to ensure her current one with Colin Jost doesn't end up going down the same path.

She said: "It’s funny. I knew Colin for a long time, but only kind of through work.

"When we first started seeing other, I would never have probably been ready for a relationship like the one that I have with Colin at different times in my life because I wasn’t comfortable with setting my own boundaries, and I didn’t know what I wanted or needed from somebody else."
