Netflix has offered us up a first look at a brand-new series from the people behind The Haunting of Hill House.

Well, it's Christmas, after all. It's supposed to be a time for giving, right?

The new show - which will arrive in February 2020 - is called Locke & Key and if you're into stories about houses that are host to some form of malevolent demonic energy, this is the show for you.

It's based on a comic series from Joe Hill - who happens to be Stephen King's son - and Gabriel Rodriguez and soon enough, we'll get to find out all about it.

In the first image that we've seen, three characters can be seen standing in front of a giant, old-looking house surrounded by snow.

That's obviously going to be the house upon which the demon is unleashed. Exactly what the upshot of that will be, we'll have to wait and see.

You'd have to imagine that no good will come of it.

The image was shared on the show's official account with the ominous caption 'Welcome to Keyhouse'.

Fans of the graphic novel series are already champing at the bit, waiting to get stuck into the series.

One fan wrote: "This looks amazing. I'm getting Haunting of Hill House vibes but also like Haunted Mansion, Spiderwick Chronicles etc."

Another said: "Oh my lord. I'm so excited for this. Locke and Key literally defined what comics could mean to me. No matter how this turns out, I'm excited to see someone else's take on this story!!"

As for the cast, we know that Jackson Robert Scott, Darby Stanchfield, Emilia Jones, Connor Jessup and the fantastically named Griffin Gluck will star in the show.

Other names include Bill Heck, Laysla De Oliveira, Coby Bird and Thomas Mitchell Barnett.

As far as the plot goes, here's what Netflix has said: "After their father is murdered under mysterious circumstances, the three Locke siblings and their mother move into their ancestral home, Keyhouse, which they discover is full of magical keys that may be connected to their father's death.

"As the Locke children explore the different keys and their unique powers, a mysterious demon awakens - and will stop at nothing to steal them.

"From Carlton Cuse (Lost, Bates Motel) and Meredith Averill (The Haunting of Hill House), the series is a coming-of-age mystery about love, loss and the unshakable bonds that define family."

It'll be out on Netflix around the globe on 7 February 2020.
