A team of ghost hunters have headed to Joe Exotic's zoo to investigate claims of supernatural activity.

Zak Bagans, Aaron Goodwin, Jay Wasley and Billy Tolley from Ghost Adventures visited the Wynnewood Animal Park in Oklahoma previously owned by Exotic and made famous by theeight-part Netflix documentary Tiger King.

With Exotic, whose real name is Joseph Allen Maldonado-Passage, currently serving 22-years in prison for a murder for hire plot to kill Carole Baskin and animal abuse charges, he lost ownership of the park, which is now closed on a permanent basis.

However, while the park may now be devoid of human or animal life, there could be some otherworldly beings hanging around the place with previous members of staff claiming to have witnessed paranormal activity on the site. Spooky, eh?

The team from Ghost Adventures took a trip to the zoo to check things out for their upcoming two-hour special.

As well as checking out the ghosts and ghouls, the episode will also feature interviews with people who used to work at the park who will share the creepy details about things they've seen while working as well as rumours of murder.

And it seems as though things got a little bit spooky, with ghost hunter Bagans promising 'twists' and a 'wild' episode.

Bagans said: "This investigation was wild from beginning to end. We went into it thinking we knew a little about this story already, but there were so many surprises at every turn.

"It's a super-charged location and it felt surreal to be there. This special has all the drama, characters and twists that you would expect in any Joe Exotic story. But just when you think you've seen and heard it all, there's more."

A press release for the new show teases: "Bagans and the crew speak with park staff - including Erik Cowie and Allen Glover, well-known characters from the documentary - they learn new details about the park's story, and experience unexplained encounters that creep even these guys out: apparitions, shadow figures, voices and mysterious light phenomena."

Ghost Adventures: Horror at Joe Exotic Zoo airs on the Travel Channel on 29 October.
