Well, what did you think it was going to be?

Mary Killen, who makes up one of the most popular couples on Channel 4's Gogglebox, has finally revealed why her and her husband Giles refer to each other as 'Nutty'.

The pair have become well known for their eccentric behaviour on the show, and that's exactly why they have this little nickname for each other.

It's simply because they're a bit weird.

Speaking to the Daily Star, Mary explained: "We call each other 'nutty' because we both consider the other to be a bit mad.

"Giles has multiple personality disorder so he's all sorts of people and one of them is a bit of a genius. The truth is we're both neurotic."

Seems fair enough.

Mary also revealed that taking part in the show - which has been a bizarre success give that it's just people watching people watching TV - has helped the couple's marriage to no end, as it gives them some time to spend together.

She continued: "Giles and I were like ships that pass in the night.

"I got up early. He went to bed late and we rarely even ate together. I know a few couples who have split up because they have decided they can't stand one another.

"Sitting down and watching television reminded us how much we enjoyed the same jokes."

The couple met more than 30 years ago when Giles was a student at Wimbledon College of Art and Mary was being paid £4.50 to pose as a model.

She also revealed that she rejected the generous offer of another 25p per hour to pose nude, and remained in her costume.

Now, the pair have two grown-up children and live happily in Wiltshire, down in the South West of England.

Mary joked during the interview that she would have broken up with Giles had it not been for Gogglebox.

She said that she'd considered it, but had a change of heart upon realising that a new husband would be as annoying - if not more - than her current husband.

Mary said: "You have to understand all men are really annoying one way or another?"

With her days as an art model presumably over, Mary has since moved on to a career in etiquette, and has even written two books and an agony column on the subject.

Despite the fact that they squabble, and each thinks the other is a bit mad, it looks as if they'll be sitting alongside one another in their Gogglebox chairs for the foreseeable future.
