Jurassic World 3 has resumed filming following the coronavirus pandemic, Sam Neill has confirmed.

The 72-year-old actor took to social media yesterday (3 August) to post a picture of himself in 1993's Jurassic Park, alongside the caption: "Tomorrow I'm back in The Grant Hat and into the Whole Jurassic World. Terror knows no bounds."

Today (4 August), he followed this up with a picture of the hat he wore in the original movie:

Neill will be starring in the eagerly-anticipated film with OG co-stars Laura Dern and Jeff Goldblum. The old gang are set to team up with Jurassic World stars Chris Pratt and Bryce Dallas Howard for another trip back to the island populated with large lab-engineered lizards.

Earlier this year, Chris Pratt - who plays Owen Grady in the JW series - told Variety: "Man, I can't tell you anything, but I can tell you it's going to blow your mind. It's going to be the biggest and best yet. They spared no expense and they're bringing everybody back."

Replying to Neill's social media post, one person wrote: "You know Dr. Grant, one would assume that a smart scientist such as yourself, after the incident on Isla Nublar, Isla Sorna and San Diego would never meddle with dinosaurs again. But I guess money is again a huge factor like when Hammond asked you to go see his park."

Another added: "Excitement level - overload! But I'm really scared for you as those dinosaurs are very unpredictable."

Back in September 2019, at a Collider-organised screening of the first Jurassic World flick at the ArcLight Cinema in Hollywood, director Colin Trevorrow brought Laura Dern onstage for a question and answer section where she confirmed that she would be appearing.

Dern will be back as Dr. Ellie Satler, Neill will return as Dr. Alan Grant, and Goldblum will reprise his role as the inimitable Dr. Ian Malcolm, all of whom featured in the very first Jurassic Park film back in 1993.

Jurassic World 3 has a release date of 11 June 2021.
