Kiefer Sutherland has said he'd be happy to reprise his role of Jack Bauer in 24 and reckons a movie could work.

Sutherland starred as the anti-terror agent in nine seasons of the hit show, as well as the TV film 24: Redemption, released in 2008, and now it seems he's ready to make a return.

Speaking to Forbes, he said: "I've been banging my head against a brick wall for a movie for so long that I've got a concussion.

"Honestly, the form more 24 would take doesn't matter to me as much as the quality of the story.

"If someone comes up with a great story that can be told in two hours, then we're going to make a movie, but if someone comes up with a great story that could be 24 hours, we'll do the show.

"As an actor, 24 remains one of the most dynamic experiences I've ever had. Where a character was allowed to have such highs and lows in such a fast period of time is a gift.

"There are very few setups that will allow you to do that, and I find that incredibly fun, challenging, and exciting.

"There's been nine seasons, and I think it rests in a credible place. The difficulty is you don't ever want to do anything that is going to damage that."

The show followed Bauer in 'real time' with each hour-long episode representing an hour in his life and a season consisting of 24 episodes - except for the ninth season, which had 12.

The show picked up a bunch of awards during its run and spawned spin off series 24: Legacy, in which Sutherland did not appear.

In January this year, 24 executive producer Howard Gordon told Deadline Fox was interested in a revival of the show.

He said: "Fox certainly wants to do it, and we're talking. When I say talking, what it will be, the big headline being, it has to be worth doing. We can't do it to just do it. We want to find the right story.

"Todd Harthan who is running The Resident is working on it. I'm a friend of the court."

The new outlet reported that the new series 'involves a revival element', adding that Sutherland 'and possibly other key cast members' could be returning.
