A mother has opened up about her incredibly close relationship with her daughter, which involves her licking her 21-year-old awake every day.

Yep. You did read that correctly.

Marcia, 68, and daughter Alena are set to appear on a new series of TLC's sMothered where they reveal all about their super strong bond.

Marcia says her daughter is 'definitely' her best pal, which is pretty sweet, but then goes on to reveal just how close they actually are.

Marcia tells the camera: "She kept pestering me for a puppy and I couldn't get her a puppy, so I turned into the doggy. Alena tastes pretty good and all sweet, I just want to eat her all up." Fair enough, yeah.

Meanwhile, Alena, who was adopted by Marcia when she was a toddler, adds: "I love it when my Mamma licks me, it kind of makes me feel closer to her because we're doing something funny and out of the ordinary. It's a thing we do every single day."

But once they're up and out of bed, the duo's playfulness is far from over - as the day doesn't start until Alena has chased her ma around the gaff.

Explaining the unusual ritual, Marcia says it started when Alena, who has an enzyme deficiency, was very young.

She says: "When Alena was very little she didn't have much stamina, so I would say, 'You can't get me, you can't get me.'

"It was really a good thing to help her grow and it just continued."

Once Alena has managed to catch her mum, she then showers her in kisses, which again, is quite cute, if we're being honest.

She adds: "When I catch my Mamma I do all my kissy-poos and I kiss her all up. She's very kissable."

The close pair are aware that to outsiders their relationship might seem a bit odd, but they don't care.

Marica explains: "Some people don't agree or they wonder what is wrong with her. I love the idea as she's growing up of being able to do all those silly things.

"It's getting a little tricky as she's getting older, but still do all the same antics and we still play the same games and we have fun."

Well, that's the main thing. You do you, guys.

The new series of sMothered airs tonight at 9pm on TLC.
