Shia LaBeouf got his torso tattooed to help him get into character for a role as a tax collector for a crime lord.

While most actors would be happy enough letting someone from the makeup team get creative with their skin, LaBeouf took it to the extreme by actually getting a bunch of actual tattoos on his actual chest. I cannot imagine having this level of commitment to anything.

The 34-year-old is set to star in movie called The Tax Collector, in which he plays a character called Creeper - a man who collects taxes for Los Angeles gangs on behalf of a crime lord called the Wizard.

In a recent snap shirtless snap of LaBeouf's you can make out some of his tattoos, including his character's name - Creeper - and a clown.

The movie's executive producer David Ayer spoke to slashfilm.com earlier this year where he heaped praise on the star for his commitment.

Asked what it was like to work with LaBeouf, Ayer said: "He's one of the best actors I've worked with, and he's the most committed to body and soul. He had a tooth pulled on Fury, and then on Tax Collector, he got his whole chest tattooed. So he kind of goes all in, and I've never known anyone that committed." You can say that again, mate.

This is not the first time LaBeouf's dedication has been noticed by a colleague.

Speaking about his role in 2014 flick Fury, his co-star Logan Lerman told GQ the lengths he was willing to go to look the part.

He told the publication: "We were in make-up and they were putting cuts on Shia and I said, 'Yeah, yeah, it looks good'. And Shia was like, 'No it doesn't look real'.

"Then he walks out into the hallway and says, 'Hey man, wanna see something fun? Check this out...' and he takes out a knife and cuts his face.

"And for the whole movie he kept opening these cuts on his face. That's all real."

Lerman added: "He did go to a dentist and asked them to pull his tooth out, but yeah, what an odd request." Indeed.

The Tax Collector is due to be released in August this year.
