An actor in the new Winnie the Pooh horror film will never be able to look at the little yellow bear in the same way after a particularly gruesome scene.

Amber Doig-Thorne, who plays Alice in the new low-budget horror, had loved the character as a child and thought it was a dream come true when she was cast.

Little did she realise just how much the gory scenes from Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey would impact her...

The film is based on the beloved children’s characters by author A.A Milne, and pays more than just a subtle nod to the Disney version too.

Wearing an almost identical red and yellow outfit, the little yellow bear is now feral and is seeking revenge on his former owner, Christopher Robin, for abandoning him.

As the young man gathers with friends at a remote house, Pooh and Piglet enact their bloody revenge.

Prior to its release, the film had sparked a huge backlash from fans of the bear. But as it’s been over 95 years since the publication of the first Winnie book though, the characters are now in the public domain and are free to be used within certain conditions.

Doig-Throne says she can't look at the bear the same way after being in the film.

Doig-Thorne stars as one of Christopher Robin’s friends in the flick and explained how much of an impact the film had on her as she’d previously loved the bear, telling the Daily Star: "I was a huge fan of Winnie the Pooh growing up, I had the little cuddly toys, I had the games, I watched all the movies – if it was Pooh related I had it.

"It's combining two of my favourite things – Winnie the Pooh was definitely one of my favourite characters as a child, and horror films are one of my favourite genres to act in.”

But after landing the role of a lifetime, she's found she can't look at those cuddly toys of her youth in the same way again.

Safe to say she's scarred.

After being asked to clear out her childhood bedroom, she stumbled upon her old Pooh toy.

Doig-Thorne continued: "I recently went back to my childhood home, and my mum said, 'Right you’re an adult now, it’s time to clear out your room.'

‘I went through all of my old toys, put them all on the floor and funnily enough the first one I picked up was Pooh.’

"He used to be my favourite cuddly toy, but this time when I saw him - I held him at arm’s length! All I could see when I looked at Pooh was Craig playing Winnie the Pooh in Blood and Honey, chasing me and tying me up! I was like, 'I can never look at my little Pooh Bear the same way!'”

While most of us would be scarred for life, the actress still hopes to star in the horror version of other childhood classics, such as Little Red Riding Hood and Cinderella.
