Gen Z are leading the meteoric rise of 'tech thrifters' in the UK, according to new research.
In a bid to save money (and the planet), a new wave of eco-conscious 18 to 24-year-olds are turning to second-hand technology.
Pre-loved tech is no longer something to be scoffed at either, as refurbished models have never been more in demand.
As per new data released by EE, 67 percent of young adults say they actively look for ways to be thriftier when upgrading their handset, and the majority say it's with sustainability in mind.
It's far from a sacrifice too, as 63 percent say they see second-hand tech as a flex with over half proud to own a second-hand model.

The new comes amid the launch of EE's new refurbished smartphone range with airtime, which boasts a cost-effective way to upgrade to Apple and Samsung handsets.
So, how much money can you really save, and what's up for grabs? Find out everything you need to know below.
Where to buy a second-hand Apple or Samsung phone now
EE has launched a new refurbished range, which features Apple and Samsung smartphones.
Priced from £31 per month, it offers a great way to secure sought-after models with 36-month flex pay agreements on offer.
Each phone is checked, tested, and backed by EE's extended warranty. What's more, students can receive a whopping 40 percent off their airtime when purchasing a flex pay plan.
For instance, students could save up to £12 per month on refurbished plans such as the Samsung Galaxy S24, saving £288 in total over the length of the contract.
You'll not only save money either.

According to a lifecycle assessment by ADEME, refurbished phones used for two years in comparison to a new phone used for three years can cut carbon emissions by up to 87 percent per year and even generate 85 percent less e-waste.
"Our new range of refurbished smartphone Flex Pay plans makes great technology accessible to more people, in a way that helps both budgets and the planet.
"Refurbished is no longer a second choice, it’s now mainstream, with younger customers leading the way when it comes to thrifty, sustainable choices," Sharon Meadows, MD Marketing and Commercial said.

"Our launch will give them and consumers across the UK, total confidence they’re getting a high-quality device, backed by EE’s extended warranty and award-winning support, along with access to the UK’s best network."
