If you’d class yourself as a foodie, or just love really good grub, then there’s a restaurant ‘hack’ for sampling food cooked and curated by Michelin-star chefs across England and Scotland for a fraction of the price - and you need to know about it.
According to the 2025 Michelin Guide, there are 188 Michelin-starred restaurants in the UK. These venues are considered the cream of the crop, with only 10 reaching the elusive three-star tier.
However, a heavy price tag usually comes with the prestige, and god knows not everyone can afford to drop £500 on a Saturday afternoon tasting menu. But that doesn’t mean you have to miss out.
Right now, there are a handful of institutions dotted across cities like Manchester, Birmingham, and Glasgow that aren’t officially classed as Michelin Star-worthy restaurants, but they are run by a chef who is.
Below, we’ve picked out six places where you can get your luxury food fix this autumn, including the Ibrox Stadium and a brand-new Sheffield hotspot.

Edinburgh: The Scran & Scallie

If you’re after proper scran in Edinburgh without forking out Michelin-starred prices, The Scran & Scallie is worth checking out. Tucked away in Stockbridge, this gastro-pub is the brainchild of celeb chef Tom Kitchin, who’s earned a shiny Michelin star at his flagship spot, The Kitchin. Think pub classics with a glow-up: haggis, neeps and tatties, fish pie that hits like a warm hug, and Sunday roasts that pull in big queues. The vibe? Cosy tartan booths, roaring fires, and a mix of families, foodies and hungover students pretending to be grown-ups. It’s the sort of place you can rock up in jeans, order a pint, and still feel like you’re part of Scotland’s fine-dining scene. Basically, it’s Michelin quality without the white tablecloth stress.
Birmingham: The Oyster Club by Adam Stokes

Promising a casual and relaxed approach to dining, The Oyster Club by Adam Stokes is a haven for fish fiends.
Oysters from France, Ireland, England and Jersey can come in innovative dressings like deep fried buffalo and ranch, and lager and lime, or be served plain in a set of six or 12. Three types of caviar sit proudly on Stokes’ menu, alongside wild harbour mussels, a eye-popping smoked haddock scotch egg, and a whole Atlantic lobster.
Last year, the Michelin Star chef launched Aphrodite’s Bar inside the Temple Street venue. A ‘happy hour’ operates every Wednesday to Friday from 12pm to 6pm, offering two for one on its house cocktails.
Leeds: Brasserie Blanc by Raymond Blanc

If you’re looking for a classically French-inspired menu that won’t break the bank in Leeds, then Brasserie Blanc may be the answer.
Celebrity chef Raymond Blanc has been involved in the business since it emerged from the ashes of Le Petit Blanc, and while you probably won’t find him behind the grill, the two-time Michelin Star chef does contribute to the restaurant's culinary direction.
The chain restaurant offers everything from pan-fried sea bream in a rich bouillabaisse sauce to confit pork loin and curried cauliflower steaks. Those with a sweet tooth will be pleased to see a chocolate and amarena cherry torte on the menu, as well as a creamy pistachio soufflé and coconut sticky rice.
Better still, you can currently save £5 if you book using a Virgin Experience Days voucher.

Sheffield: Six and a Half by Leslie Buddington

Leslie Buddington is a Michelin-plate-winning chef who very recently opened his restaurant, Six and a Half, in Sheffield.
Bringing things back to basics, the eatery, tucked off Sharrow Vale Road, champions seasonal produce that is roasted over roaring, open wood fires.
Revellers can watch as the team use their honed instincts to perfectly cook succulent Onglet steaks, moreish slabs of fennel, and thick sea bass fillets right in front of them.
A cocktail menu has been carefully crafted to complete the experience. Sip on premium drinks, including a smoky Mezcal margarita and classic, bitter Negroni, or indulge in a considered selection of wines, beers, and non-alcoholic drinks instead.
