Flight attendant wishes passengers would stop asking her to move seats

They've already got to deal with the public, don't make things harder for them

If there's anyone on board a plane you don't want to tick off it's the flight attendant.

You might think it's the pilot but they're sealed away in the cockpit and have a job to do which they're going to be focused on, so passengers should endeavour to stay on the good side of the staff in their cabin.

Plus they've got to spend all day dealing with the public in a customer facing job, which is one of the most difficult and horrendous of all duties anyone could have to do.

A flight attendant has told Sky News (rather fittingly) there's one thing she wishes passengers would stop doing, and that's asking to move seats right when they're boarding the plane.

It's one of the busiest times as everyone is bustling to find their seats and stow their luggage while that one guy from group six who got on with group one gets in everyone's way.

Flight attendant Grace Hampson wants people who are angling for a seat change while boarding to know that they calculate for weight distribution and various other factors based on who is sitting where in the plane.

Basically, it's not her decision to make so stop trying to ask her to make it.

She said: "We are happy to accommodate and make passengers as comfortable as we possibly can during the flight, but we need all passengers to take their allocated seat for take-off.

"The weight and balance of the aircraft gets calculated, and that includes passengers as well as cargo and other factors. Correct weight distribution is essential for the aircraft to maintain stability and control.

"In short, the decision is out of the flight attendants' hands!"

So stop asking the people who can't make the decision.

When you're boarding the flight make sure you say 'hello' back like a nice and normal person otherwise they might think you're a flight risk, and they'll be looking out for people who are drunk or on drugs and thus find it difficult to be a good passenger.

Making a good first impression isn't all, you need to make sure you keep the window open for take-off and continue to behave yourself, or the flight attendants might talk smack about you behind your back through the medium of codewords.

They've apparently got sayings for every occasion in order to talk about something without passengers cottoning on.

While you're meant to follow the rules and show good manners, the flight attendants also have some rules of their own to adhere to.
