Police Are Searching For Pet Owner Who Made Dog Run Alongside Car

Police are on the hunt for a dog owner after disturbing footage emerged of them forcing their pet to run alongside their car.

In the heartbreaking clip, the dog can be seen running by the side of the road in Lochgelly, Scotland, while someone in the car keeps hold of its lead.

Following the footage being shared online, it has caused outrage among animal lovers.

Reacting to the video, a local dog walking company, GeoPaw Cowdenbeath, said it was unbelievably dangerous and was the 'height of stupidity'.

A spokesperson for the company said: "I almost cannot believe what I'm seeing.

"This may look funny to some folk but going by comments from those who have seen the video the dog was absolutely terrified.

"It's also extremely dangerous and just the height of stupidity. It's unbelievable that any human can treat animals like this in this day and age. It's just sickening."

According to reports, the Scottish SPCA said they had not received any reports relating to the incident, however, police confirmed that they were investigating the footage after it had been brought to their attention.

Authorities stated an officer was sent to the scene but that the driver and their vehicle were not able to be traced at the time.

Other dog owners have since demanded police take the case seriously and follow it up, as the licence plate was clearly visible in the clip.

Speaking about the case, dog owner Jennifer Sterritt said police were letting animals down.

She said: "I've seen time and time again people complaining about all types of animal abuse, but they are letting the animals down big time."

This upsetting story comes after a puppy had to bark and yelp for its life after it was left in a baking hot car by its owner.

Boomer screeched as loudly as he could to get the attention of passers-by in San Jacinto, California, earlier this week, where temperatures reached almost 100°F (37°C).

After spotting the little guy barking from the parked motor, and fearing temperatures may be even higher inside, a stranger managed to pull the dog to safety.

In a post to Facebook, Riverside County Sheriff's Office said the puppy had stopped moving but the person who pulled the pet pooch out had managed to perform life-saving aid.
