Christmas is fast approaching, which means it's the time when children mither their parents for pets. Sadly, however, it's often the case that kids get bored with their new puppy or kitten after a few weeks, with the poor animals eventually being abandoned or taken to a shelter.

However, if you're serious about teaching your little ones the importance of caring for an animal this year, there aren't many cuter than Wonky, the 'unicorn' rabbit.

Vets at the Milton Keynes and North Buckinghamshire branch of RSPCA are looking for a new home for the four-year-old, who has a distinctive look that separates him from other rabbits.

The charity has shared the appeal on its Facebook page, with photos of Wonky, as well as a little bio about him to attract a new owner.

Wonky has been likened to a unicorn because of his ear.

It said: "Wonky is a wonderful white lop-eared rabbit. He's got the most adorable wonky ear which flops right over his face when he greets you and at other times sticks right up in the air from the centre of his head which makes him look like a unicorn!!

"He loves attention and will happily sit with you while you fuss him. He's not keen on being lifted though which is usual for a rabbit.

"Wonky is four years old and will need a large, secure housing set up or an indoor home where he can stretch out."

But the little fella isn't the only one looking for a home, there are plenty of others hoping to find someone to care for them.

The charity has launched a Christmas appeal to find Wonky a new home.

One of those is Billy, an older rabbit who loves attention, and though he needs a little bit more care than others, he's an 'absolute sweetheart'.

The RSPCA says: "He is happy being handled and brushed and will need regular grooming. He sometimes suffers from a weepy eye, but this is easily cleaned. He will need a home where he will receive the care and attention required."

If you have a bit more room in your home, however, then how Cookie and Shadow may be more suited.

This pair of rabbits, noted by the RSPCA for their 'beautiful multi coloured markings', had to be taken away from their previous owner and are now looking someone to take them in.

They're also hoping to find Billy a new owner, too.

The charity says: "They are two years old and have lived together all their lives. Sadly their previous owners could no longer look after them due to a change in circumstances so they are hoping to find a new loving owner very soon.

"They love being outdoors, bouncing around and nibbling the grass."

If you think you could offer the perfect home for Wonky or any of the other animals listed, you can find more information here.
