Apple's New iOS 15.4 Will Finally Allow Your To Unlock You Phone With A Face Mask On

Apple's New iOS 15.4 Will Finally Allow Your To Unlock You Phone With A Face Mask On

The days of keying in your passcode or pulling your mask off for a second are over.

Apple's new iOS 15.4 will finally do away with an annoying task that has been around for the past two years.

Ever since the coronavirus pandemic started, people have been encouraged to wear face masks to protect themselves from catching and spreading the illness.

However, that posed a problem for everyone with a phone that uses your face to unlock the device.

We've either had to pull down our mask for a hot second or key in the four, six or eight digit code to open our phones.

While it doesn't sound like a massive inconvenience, it was one of those things that you just had to live with...until now.

Apple's new operating system, which became available for download this week, has finally done away with that pesky chore.

iOS 15.4 will now let you keep that face mask on and your safety from Covid-19 at its maximum while being able to open your phone.

The updated operating system will recognise some of the unique features around your eye area to authenticate your identity.

It might get tricky if you're wearing dark sunglasses, however they would be far easier to pull up rather than your face mask.

Not only will the new iOS let you open your phone with a mask on, but it will also let you complete transactions with Apple Pay and will autofill passwords in apps and Safari.

The technology will work with iPhone 12 and above so if you're using an older model then unfortunately you'll still have to pull that face mask on and off.

But if that wasn't enough to encourage you to get the new update, then maybe the security risk will.

iOS 15.4 apparently fixes a whopping 39 security issues, which include things like WebKit and Kernel.

In addition to a cheeky little security update, we'll also be getting dozens of new emojis.

There are loads of gender nonspecific variants in there to ensure you can use one in any setting.

You can use pregnant 'people' instead of just a woman, handshakes in multiple skin tones, a melting face for those hot days, hand gestures, and household objects.
