John Terry has finally joined Twitter and he's kicked off his social media account by insulting some bloke's wife. That's one way to go viral, I guess. You can see him announcing his presence on the site here:

Terry's unverified account raised some suspicions that it may have been fake - so he filmed a short clip of himself explaining it was legit.

In the video he said: "Good morning Twitter.

"Yes, this is me, this is my official account. I'm going to be getting my blue tick at some point this week.

"Happy Sunday, I'm just about to do a 10k run."

The former Chelsea captain, who has had his first share of tabloid scandals over the years, was welcomed by cricketer Kevin Pieterson.

In the replies, a Newcastle United fan joked: "Best make sure wife doesn't follow him."

And Terry wasted absolutely no time in going in two-footed, replying: "Your safe David , just seen yours on your account [sic]" alongside a crying laughing emoji and one of a pig.

Social media users were shocked by Terry's response with a person replying: "John Terry has come to twitter on smoke, this is a red card and 10 game ban offence."

Someone else said: "First day on Twitter and he's already chosen violence."

While a third wrote: "Only been on here for a few hours and he's already dropping bodies."

Another person said: "Man's just joined Twitter and taking no prisoners."

And he didn't stop there, Terry has also been using his brand new account to troll Manchester United fans, who were most likely already smarting after their side's 2-0 defeat against rivals Manchester City.

After one United fan 'welcomed' him to Twitter with a photo of Terry right after his penalty miss against the Red Devils in the 2008 Champions League final.

He replied: "That's the Man Utd fans after today and realising your 5 years away from catching Chelsea [sic]."

Shots fired.
