Italian DJ and music producer Joseph Capriati has allegedly been stabbed by his dad.

The 33-year-old is currently being treated at Sant'anna e San Sebastiano hospital in Caserta which is located in the Campania region in Italy.

According to local media outlet, La Repubblica, the musician's father, 61, has been arrested for attempted murder and has no previous criminal convictions. It is believed that he is being held in custody.

Reports suggest that an argument broke out last night (8 January) between the father and son which also involved other family members.

This led to the father allegedly grabbing a kitchen knife and stabbing Capriati in his chest. The weapon was later confiscated by police.

Capriati, who usually lives in Spain, was back in Italy after returning to his parents' home in Caserta due to the pandemic.

Capriati is thought to be in a stable condition now after fellow DJ, Adam Beyer, posted a picture on Instagram to update fans.

He wrote: "My brother, I can't believe [sic] the news today and I don't want it to be true. I can't imagine what you are going through right now but I'm relived to hear that you are in stable condition.

"I send you all my love and strength. Can't wait to see you soon again mate."

Fans have since taken to social media to send the DJ their well wishes. One wrote: "Joseph Capriati my thoughts with you brother!"

Another added: "Hoping & praying for Joseph Capriati right now! Keep fighting," while a third wrote: "Incredibly sad to hear this. Please be strong and get well asap @josephcapriati."
