Airline offering incredibly cheap flights between UK and USA

It turns out getting across The Pond doesn't have to break the bank with the new airline

There are few among us who haven't fantasised about a trip to the USA, but it's a long way away, and it can be expensive to get there... but it might not be as pricey as you think.

We all know Ryanair has form for offering budget trips across Europe, with flights to Spain often costing less than a train to London.

But now new airline Norse Atlantic Airways is making flying to the USA affordable too.

In August, the airline - which was founded last year - started offering up flights between London Gatwick and New York JFK for just £255 return. And now it's been given the green-light to expand to other destinations in the US.

Norse plans to run equally cheap routes from London to Los Angeles, San Francisco, Chicago, Baltimore-Washington, Orlando and Fort Lauderdale, according to Time Out.

The plans come after Norse UK was granted approval to operate direct flights between the US and the UK by the US Department of Transportation.

The airline will soon be launching its summer 2023 schedule, which will include its new routes to the US from London Gatwick.

So if you want to head to the Big Apple, you can get checking the Norse timetable now, or if you fancy The Windy City or LA, you may want to start planning a trip for next March.

Bjorn Tore Larsen, CEO of Norse Atlantic Airways, said: "We are very thankful for the support that we have received on both sides of the Atlantic throughout our application.

"This milestone represents a huge step in creating competition in the transatlantic market that will benefit consumers, stimulate business travel and lead to job creation.

"We are pleased that we will continue to deliver on our pledge to democratise transatlantic travel and we look forward expanding our point-to-point route network between London Gatwick and the US as part of our summer 2023 schedule."

Following the announcement of cheap flights between Gatwick and JFK earlier this year, Gatwick chief executive, Stewart Wingate, said: "We are delighted to welcome Norse Atlantic Airways to Gatwick.

"It's always great to see a new tail on the airfield but the arrival of a new airline following the turbulent past two years for the industry, and one that will be offering fantastic long-haul routes across the Atlantic, is particularly exciting news.

"Passengers across London and the South East will now be able to benefit from another transatlantic service from Gatwick, with Norse offering excellent value for money for those flying out for a dream holiday, or important business trip, to New York, one of the world's most famous and dynamic cities."
