Sobering simulation shows major changes to your body that happen if you cut out junk food for 30 days

What results can you expect if you cut junk food out for a month?

A simulation has revealed what happens to your body if you cut junk food out for just 30 days.

We all know that cutting sugar out of your diet comes with its own health benefits over time, but what if you specifically lay off foods containing high levels of fat, salt or sugar?

No burgers, pizzas, doughnuts, or anything of the sort for a whole month, a hard ask for many Brits.

A 2022 YouGov study revealed that just under half (47 percent) of Britons eat junk food weekly, while seven percent of the population consume it daily.

So is it worth cutting out and what happens to your body in this time?

It feels like people nowadays are more open than ever before to try an extreme diet in an attempt to either lose weight or put on muscle - health is wealth and all that.

If you were to skip 'cheat meals' altogether for 30 days then, it turns out that the outcome may be something many would want.

According to the simulation uploaded to YouTube channel GrowFit Health (not a professional medical outlet), you'll experience a number of feelings as time goes on.

Days one to three

This is when your cravings will hit and your body will start to biologically feel the loss of sugar, salt and additives.

Unfortunately, it's not what you'd call easy-going after this, as withdrawal symptoms may start to become more noticeable - you can expect to feel tired or plagued with headaches at this point.

Days four to seven

Coming up to the week mark, you can expect to see your energy stabilising as your body starts to feel less sluggish.

While you can expect to feel 'lighter', your body will move past the withdrawal stage, overcoming the addictive tendencies you may have developed in relation to junk food.

Healthline states: "Independently, sugar hasn’t been consistently shown to be addictive in humans, but when combined with fat, the combination can be hard to resist," while sugar can also 'stimulate the same brain reward pathways as drugs like cocaine'.

Days seven to 14

In your second week without junk food, you may notice your skin starting to clear up, while digestion will improve considerably as a result of your healthier diet.

This means that you also won't feel as bloated after eating.

Days 15 to 20

According to the simulation, this is when you'll start to notice improvements in your sleep and a sense of calmness when it comes to mood swings, while your taste buds will become more active.

In adjusting, they'll make things like fruits taste sweeter than ever before.

Days 21 to 30

By this time, you'll apparently feel a sense of focus while experiencing a consistent output of energy throughout the day.

If you've made it this far without junk food, you may have even lost a few kilograms without specifically setting out to.

As always, the NHS says eating a healthy, balanced diet 'can help you feel your best'.
