An incredible video shows the moment a sniper's bullet clipped a US marine's helmet while he was in Afghanistan - narrowly missing a fatal injury. Watch the dramatic footage below:

Shot in 2013, the video shows the marine and two of his comrades preparing to respond to an opposing group of militants when the sniper targets them.

The clip was recently shared by TikToker @ukmilitarycontent, where it received 319,000 views and 14,000 likes.

The withdrawal of US forces from Afghanistan is now almost complete following a peace contract with the Taliban signed under former president Donald Trump.

Meanwhile, UK Prime Minister Boris Johnson announced on Thursday (8 July) that the last UK troops had left Afghanistan.

But at the time of the video, US soldiers had been fighting in Afghanistan for over ten years in what was dubbed the 'forever war'.

The video is shot on a helmet-mounted camera and starts with three soldiers entering a dark corridor looking for the source of enemy fire.

At the corridor's end, the three marines line up as they prepare to exit the building.

The leading soldier then appears to scan the environment before the sniper's bullet pops across their heads, clipping the material on the top of the second soldier's helmet.

All soldiers then leg it back down the corridor.

Once back in safety, the soldier with the camera grabs the top of his comrade's helmet to check the damage.

He says: "Dude, you got shot."

"I did get shot," his comrade responds, before removing his helmet to check for himself.

Commenting on TikTok, one user said: "Can we just thank our brave men and woman. Idk about anyone else but I would have freaked out 100 percent."

Another said: "God was watching over him."

While a third added: "A good reminder to thank troops for their service."
