Ivana Trump Has Died Aged 73

Donald Trump's ex-wife, Ivana Trump, has passed away at the age of 73 at her apartment in Manhattan, New York.

Ivana was the former president's first wife with who he shared three children; Donald Jr., Ivanka and Eric Trump. The pair married in 1977 and divorced in 1992, more than two decades before Trump ran for president of the United States.

News of Ivana's passing was announced in a statement by her family, who described her as an 'incredible woman'.

The 73-year-old passed away today (14 July), with police responding to a call of a person in cardiac arrest at 10 East 64th Street on the Upper East Side at 12:40pm local time.

Her death is not considered to be suspicious, with officials saying she appears to have died of natural causes

The Trump family praised their mother in their statement announcing the news, saying: "Our mother was an incredible woman - a force in business, a world-class athlete, a radiant beauty, and caring mother and friend.

"Ivana Trump was a survivor. She fled from communism and embraced this country. She taught her children about grit and toughness, compassion and determination. She will be dearly missed by her mother, her three children and ten grandchildren."

Trump responded to the loss of his wife in a statement shared online in which he said he was sad to share the news.

"I am very saddened to inform all of those that loved her, of which there are many, that Ivana Trump has passed away at her home in New York City," he wrote.

"She was a wonderful, beautiful and amazing woman, who lead a great and inspirational life. Her pride and joy were her three children, Donald Jr, Ivanka and Eric. She was so proud of them, as we were all so proud of her. Rest in Peace, Ivana!," Trump's statement continued.

Ivana was born in the Czech Republic before becoming a nationalised American citizen in 1988. She worked as a fashion designer and a model before going on to secure several prominent roles within the Trump Organization.

Following her divorce from Trump, Ivana developed her own lines of clothing, jewellery, and beauty products and also authored a number of books, the latest of which was called Raising Trump. The book documented Ivana's journey from growing up in the Czech Republic, marrying the man who would go on to be the President of the United States, and their experience raising their three children together.
