Killer Inspired By The Movie Scream Wore Ghostface Costume When He Committed His Crime

Belgian lorry driver Thierry Jaradin murdered 15-year-old schoolgirl Alisson Cambier in 2001

Back in 2001, the film Scream had been out for a number of years and started to become the inspiration for a number of real-life murders.

One in particular was the moment Thierry Jaradin killed his schoolgirl victim Alisson Cambier wearing the character's costume.

Jaradin, a 24-year-old lorry driver, attempted to come on to the 15-year-old when she stopped by his house in Gerpinnes, Belgium, but his advances were rejected.

Moments afterwards, the killer went into another room where he put on his Scream costume and grabbed two kitchen knives.

Reports suggest that Jaradin covered his victim's mouth before stabbing her 30 times. He then placed her on his bed and placed a rose into one of her hands.

After this, he rang his dad and colleagues and confessed to what he'd done. When he was quizzed by police, he explained he had premeditated the attack which had been motivated by the film.

When it came to his sentencing hearing, Jaradin - who had no history of violent behaviour or psychological problems - was locked up for life with no possibility of parole.

Some time afterwards, in September 2006, teenage murderers Torey Adamcik and Brian Draper killed their friend in another premeditated attack which they wanted to be 'just like' the horror film.

The victim, Casey Stoddart, 16, was house-sitting for her cousin in Idaho, and had invited the boys over, also 16, as well as her boyfriend.

Adamcik and Draper left but not before Draper unlocked a basement door which enabled them to sneak back in and cut the power to the property.

Casey's boyfriend asked his mum whether he could stay with her because she was shaken by the power going out but she said no and he left her.

A couple of days later, her body was found and it emerged that she'd been stabbed 30 times.

Police later found a stash of evidence in the Black Rock Canyon area including several knives, masks and dark clothing, and a homemade Sony videotape.

The pair had recorded themselves not only planning the kill but also reacting to it afterwards. Draper could be heard boasting: "We're gonna go down in history. We're gonna be just like Scream except real life terms."
