Person Horrified After Paying $15.70 For This Smashed Avo In London

This is why London can't have nice things.

Smashed avocado is a staple at cafes all across Australia and we happily fork out big bucks for it.

However, anyone who has tried coffee in the UK will know that sometimes they don't import Aussie cafe culture that well and that has been laid bare in central London.

Some poor soul has forked out £8.50 (AUS$15.70) for smashed avo and it is the saddest thing on the internet.

Packaged in a brown box, the 'meal' (if you can call it that) looks like what you would get at a bougie prison.

It's two small slices of toast with the avo slopped onto the top; as if some kitchen hand scooped it up with a spatula and just dumped it onto the bread before doing the same movement one hundred times more.

There's no finesse, no care, no eye for detail.

They've posted a photo of their horrible meal on Reddit, where people have flocked to console them for paying such a high price for such a terrible return on investment.

One person wrote: "Think backwards on your supply chain people, from your doorstep back to harvest. That Avocado COST a lot more than £8.50 - and the waxed paper packaging and the delivery and 'toast' and petrol for delivery and the added fee from a delivery app.... just wow for a snack."

Another added: "Legit thought this was chip shop mushy peas on toast and now I'm getting all sorts of meal ideas."

A third said: "To me this meal is as symbolic of contempt as it gets. We got him to pay £8.50 for veg on toast, we've made it as badly as possible and now all laugh while he eats it."

There's no way the person who bought this sad meal will be able to afford a house while forking out that much for a cheeky snack.

Older generations have languished over younger people's efforts to not only save for a slice of property but also keep their social life in check by brunching with their pals and buying smashed avo.

The big question about this delivery is whether or not it tasted good, because there are loads of things on the internet that look disgusting but still sit beautifully on your tastebuds. I guess we'll never know.
