Australians have understandably been feeling a little cooped up over the last several months due to the coronavirus.

Naturally, everyone is wondering when we could see a little jaunt overseas, however we'll probably have to wait until a vaccine is ready.

But when that day does come, it seems like we'll have a few options on our hands.

Scott Morrison has revealed which countries Australia is negotiating with when our border restrictions ease ever so slightly.

The Prime Minister said in a press conference: "We continue to hold these discussions with countries like Japan, we have had them before with Korea, specific nations of course, New Zealand has already been opened for travel into Australia without quarantine arrangements.

"I think we proceed cautiously. There are countries that are doing far better than what we are seeing in Europe and the United States.

"The situation in Europe and the United States is awful. And obviously, that presents great risks for people coming from those parts of the world to Australia."

Considering the US and some places in Europe are seeing some of their highest daily increases in coronavirus cases it's fair to assume we won't be able to travel there for some time.

But, it would still be awesome to be able to nip up to a few countries in Asia to get a bit of rest and relaxation.

In addition to Japan, South Korea and New Zealand, Mr Morrison also revealed there are some Chinese provinces that have been very effective in eliminating the coronavirus.

"Out of many parts of Asia, particularly in North Asia, places like Taiwan and I would also say provinces of China, Singapore, we are looking at what alternative arrangements could be had to channel visitors through appropriate quarantine arrangements for low-risk countries," he said.

"That is a process that other countries are doing as well. We are open to that but we have not come to a point of decision on that."

National Cabinet will meet on Friday to discuss our international borders and see whether we have a roadmap on easing restrictions.

But don't hold out hope for a decision in two days.

Mr Morrison said the Cabinet will stop short of making any moves on the border this Friday, however they could made some decent headway in sorting out a timeline. Only one can hope.
