Authorities have revealed some of the people who stormed the US Capitol building last month didn't even vote in the 2020 Election.

Many who gathered outside America's political heartland on January 6 chanted 'stop the steal' and demanded Donald Trump be labeled the winner of the ballot.

However, an investigation has found at least eight people who were arrested didn't even bother to help their fearless leader on the one day it mattered most.

One of those people was Donovan Crowl, according to CNN.

Crowl is an ex-Marine who wore a paramilitary outfit on January 6 and screamed 'who's our President?' as he raced towards the Capitol building entrance.

He's a member of the extremist group Oath Keepers and his mum told the American news network he had become increasingly obsessed with politics during Barack Obama's administration.

She explained to CNN that Crowl said to her that 'they were going to overtake the government if they...tried to take Trump's presidency from him'.

An election official from Ohio, where Crowl is from, said he 'never voted nor responded to any of our confirmation notices to keep him registered never voted nor responded to any of our confirmation notices to keep him registered' and was taken off the voter rolls at the end of 2020.

He was also registered in Illinois, but never voted anywhere in the state.

Crowl has been charged with destruction of government property and conspiracy for allegedly coordinating with others to plan their attack.

The people found to have allegedly participated in the Capitol uprising but not have voted range in age from 21 to 65.

Among them was a 65-year-old bloke from Georgia who police say was found with a a fully-loaded weapon and additional ammunition, another man who claimed to have spent two hours inside the Capitol, and a 21-year-old woman who shared a video showing her with a wooden sign from Nancy Pelosi's office.

Experts suggest some of the people found to have participated in the insurrection but not voting could have been because they thought the election was already rigged.
