Australians better get ready to say one-hundred and eighty at the top of their lungs as the World Series of Darts is coming to our shores.

While there are loads of sports out there that can cause excitement and elation, few match the hype, brilliance and poise of darts.

The World Series was due to come to New South Wales last year, however due to the coronavirus pandemic, all bets were off.

Now that the situation has largely been brought under control, organisers are pinning their hopes on being able to hold a massive tournament in August this year.

If you've never been to a proper World Series match before then you will definitely need to head to Wollongong or Townsville for the matches because it's a wild ride.

In between the dancers, the sparklers and flares, the endless cheering, shouting and sledging, a bunch of men and women face off against each other to see if they can expertly throw a dart across 2.37 metres of open air space onto a board.

Watching the game is genuinely amazing.

The New South Wales Darts Masters will be held at the WIN Entertainment Centre in Wollongong on August 6 and 7, before the Queensland Darts Masters is held at the Townsville Entertainment & Convention Centre on August 13 and 14.

There will also be a match held in New Zealand, at Hamilton's Claudelands Arena on August 20 and 21.

PDC Chief Executive Matthew Porter said last year: "We've travelled around Australia in recent years with the World Series of Darts and it's exciting for us to be visiting Wollongong and Townsville for the first time...to take these fantastic events to new audiences.

"Both are strong sporting areas and this is a great opportunity to see the world's top darts players live in high-profile international tournaments.

"After Damon Heta's amazing achievement winning in Brisbane last year, all eyes will be on the local stars from Australia and New Zealand to see who can grasp their opportunity to claim glory alongside the biggest names in darts."

Fans will get to see Aussie sensations Simon 'The Wizard' Whitlock and Kyle Anderson take on the likes of number one ranked world champion Peter Wright, as well as Michael van Gerwen, and the unbelievable Fallon Sherrock.
