This Bunnings Sausage Sizzle Sauce Robot Is Blowing People’s Minds

Ladies and gentlemen of Australia and the world, let us introduce you to SauceBot.

If we asked you what the quintessential Aussie snack was, you'd probably say Lamingtons, or pavlova, or maybe Vegemite toast.

Yeah, nah, mate. You'd be dead wrong if those ones came out on top.

The all-time Aussie favourite is a sausage in bread from a Saturday morning Bunnings Sausage Sizzle.

They're delicious, cheap, and raise money for charity. What's not to love?

And some people say Australia doesn't have any culture.

Well, it is this love for a sausage sanga that has borne the greatest Aussie invention since the Hills Hoist.

Let us introduce you to the Bunnings SauceBot.

Some Aussies have been living all the way over in 2050, if this TikTok video is anything to go by.

In the short clip, a sausage sizzle snack has already been fitted into the SauceBot.

Then, with a press of two oversized buttons, the robot perfectly distributes red tomato sauce and delightful golden mustard.

We've now seen the future and it is bright.

The video, shared on TikTok by user Shades McCarthy has already clocked up more than one million views and thousands of comments, all marvelling at the genius little robot that helps take a sausage sizzle to next-level perfection.

One user said: "When the engineering department takes over the sausage sizzle."

A second added: "WHERE IS THIS BUNNINGS? I must experience this."

Honestly, same babes.

A third, who presumably sits on the 'chaotic evil' bit of the alignment scale, chipped in with: "Press both [buttons] at once."

We fear that may overload SauceBot, who must be protected at all costs.

But where did SauceBot come from? Although this sounds like an existential question, the Bunnings bot was conceived by Melbourne’s Connected Community Hackerspace (CCHS).

SauceBot was made using a repurposed 3D printer, a couple of pumps designed from scratch, some oversized buttons, and a cheeky bit of code written by one of the lads at CCHS.

"It took about a month of casual pottering to get the project from joke to condiment spewing machine of doom," CCHS President Shane Rogers told Ruth Barber.

Since its debut over a year ago, SauceBot has received nothing but praise.

"Everybody seems to love it, even if they don't always get how it's supposed to be used," Rogers said,

"There have been a few mutters about robot overlords taking over the world and rather more inquiries about an onion dispenser."

You can find SauceBot at the Hawthorn Bunnings store in Melbourne.

So we know where we're going this weekend.
