British Olympic superstar Adam Peaty has responded to almost kissing his dancing partner on Strictly Come Dancing last night, after his actual girlfriend gave a priceless reaction to the incident.

Peaty was fully in zone whilst doing the tango with Katya Jones, where at the end of the routine, the two lock eyes and look lean forward and almost go in for a kiss.

Although Peaty and Jones are both in relationships, the Olympian has taken to social media to try and clear things up after fans immediately jumped to conclusions.

Firstly, he addressed his dance routine on the show and wrote: "My favourite dance so far.

"Thankyou to everyone who has sent supporting messages! I loved it."

Next, he took aim at those who have been speculating about the 'kiss'.

He added: "To everyone who wants to see what they want, your comments have real-life consequences.

"I will not be overcome or lowered by your gossip. Protect your energy."

He tweeted the post earlier today (17 October) and has already received 1,650 likes along with plenty of replies.

One user commented: "No, everyone is talking about the last split second. It can't be denied, regardless of how many statements are released, the nation saw what they saw."

However, most users seemed to be full of praise and took sympathy with the dancer's point of view.

Another user wrote: "You were both absolutely fabulous! The emotion and passion of the dance was told dramatically as it should be.

"Nothing more to be said. Well done both of you."

A third user added: "It was extraordinary and I'm so glad you were marked more fairly this week although still harshly. I think it deserved at least a 9 and maybe even a 10.

"The lifts were great but the intensity was even better. Ignore the gossip."

Although at the time, Adam's girlfriend (Eirianedd Munro), released a video showing her mock-crying on TikTok that was captioned: "Watching your boyfriend almost kiss another woman on live TV."

Then, after she chucked her head back in a dramatic fashion, the caption read: "Finding out 10 million other people also watched it live."

You see, people have previously ended their relationships - or, in some cases, started new ones with their dance partners - as a result of appearing on the show.

However, a later post from Eirianedd read: "Not worried."
