Dear Australia,
I've watched over you for a number of years, and like it or not, I've kinda become attached. TBH, I think we might actually be attached.
I've seen you go through countless changes and normally a lady would never admit her age, but I'm pushing 500,000 years now and let's face it, I'm not the same girl I used to be either.

It seems I've found myself in a bit of hot water, or at least it's a lot warmer than usual and it's starting to take a toll on my health and yours.
You may have noticed but I haven't been doing so 'great' over the past few years. I'm generally not this pale at all. This strange thing happens when the oceans warm up, it kinda forces me to throw up the stuff that keeps me alive.
Now I hate to be a bother. I generally like to go about my business and keep my 64,000 employees busy at work (that $6.4 billion in revenue each year isn't gonna make itself after all) but I'm not here to brag, I'm just so proud of what us Aussies can do together.

I try not to ask for much but things are getting a little dire up my way and I thought if it's not too much trouble you guys might consider making me an Aussie Citizen.
I only want a few rights really (and perhaps be acknowledged as an Aussie sheila, daughter of Mother nature and all that) but freedom from torture, a decent level of healthcare and the right to live would go a long way in making sure I can keep contributing to this great country.
I've set up a little petition to the government to get me citizenship, but as Aussie citizens (and my mates) I'd appreciate if you could take a few seconds to sign up and let the guys in charge know that being an Aussie icon is great, but being an Aussie citizen, well, that would really give an old girl some hope again.
Anyway, I've gotta get back to work, entertaining tourists and helping clean the planet and what not but if you can spare a few seconds to help a mate out, I'll spend the next 500,000 years or so helping you out too.
