Sibling rivalry got the better of these two

A little competition between siblings is to be expected, but two brothers took their rivalry to new levels during a garden kickabout.

What started out as a bit of fun with their dad descended into chaos as 14-year-old Ewan Kelly and his 12-year-old brother Callum started kicking seven shades out of each others.

The video was shared online by dad Glenn, from Carrickfergus, Northern Ireland, who was standing in goal during the match and had to get involved to split his boys up when it got too feisty.

In the clip, things start off ok, with the two brothers running around and trying to get the ball of one another.

But tempers quickly begin to flare and before you know it they're just trying to hurt one another, with one of them flying through the air with a - pretty impressive - kung fu kick.

The game is well and truly over when Ewan and Callum end up rolling around on the floor.

The video was filmed in 2017 but was recently shared by Glenn as he felt it summed up the kind of cabin fever being felt by many siblings across the country.

Things got a little heated during a garden kickabout.

It has since received more than 1.5million views and 91,000 likes, shares and comments on Facebook.

The 46-year-old said: "They were playing in the garden as normal, I was only just home from work and was in the goal still in my work uniform.

"The eldest is very competitive and the wee one is always rough and ready.

"They're boys being boys - playing and going mad in the garden.

However, when the lads - now aged 17 and 15 - started scrambling on the floor and hitting lumps out of one another, Glenn knew he had to intervene.

He said: "I shouted to Ewan it was enough when he left Callum lying on the ground [with a tackle].

Fortunately, it seems the lads have buried the hatchet.

"The next thing I know the wee one got up and ran and that's when he [Callum] jumped in with a flying kick - that's brothers for you.

"I sent them both to their rooms and half an hour after it calmed down they said, 'Dad, check that video,' and then we all started laughing."

When he shared the clip on social media, he had no idea it would get such a strong reception, with even celebrities such as England legend Gary Lineker sharing it.

Glenn added: "Everyone's sharing it and commenting, 'It's like us when we were younger.'

"They play for the same club, Carrick Rangers Academy, and the coaches have rung us laughing about it too.

"I think the video sums up how parents and siblings across the country are feeling - agitated with 'lockdown fever'.

"It's nice to know I'm putting a smile on people's faces during a troubling time. Everyone who's got in touch said they've laughed at it."
