The boy who was once known as the world's heaviest child has now lost an impressive 12 stone, and is now able to walk without help.

WATCH ARYA'S AMAZING TRANSFORMATION:

Arya Permana once weighed in at a whopping 440lbs (200kg), which meant he wasn't able to walk, play or even sit without assistance.

He was so large that hardly any clothes fitted him properly, meaning he often just had a sarong draped over him.

Being unable to move with any ease, he would spend his days sitting around playing on his phone, sometimes sitting in a tiny pool to cool himself down.

After being born at a natural weight of 7lb (3.17kg), Arya would eat five times a day, and would often chow down on enough to feed two adults.

But the 12-year-old from Indonesia has managed to turn things around, having shed an amazing amount of weight with the help of a dietician and gastric band surgery - now weighing 268lbs (121kg).

And he's now not only able to walk on his own, but has also taken up football and badminton.

His parents, Royakah and Ade, apparently tried to curb his huge appetite and also took him to doctors in their village in west Java, but they apparently didn't find anything odd about his alarming frame.

"He was perpetually hungry and had an enormous diet," Royakah said.

"He would eat five times day. He was always tired and complains of shortness of breath. He only ate and slept. There is no other pain than seeing own child suffering.

"No mother wants to stop feeding her children but I had to as I was helpless. We had no money to see doctors and had exhausted all our savings in feeding him."

Eventually, they were approached by dietitians and doctors after his story hit the news. He underwent bariatric surgery in April last year, which helped him slim down by three stone (19kg) in just three weeks.

"I am really happy to see my son's health now. I cannot express in words how I happy I am," Royakah added.

"He was a bright student and always topped until he had to quit school for not being able to walk. We are hoping that he will soon lose the remaining extra weight and live a healthy, normal life like our other kids."

Ade explained: "He cannot eat a lot after the surgery. He can only eat 4 tablespoons of rice and drinks diet milk. If he eats extra, he throws up.

"He is not allowed to eat sugar and carbs. We are very happy that he is energetic and can play football and badminton. He walks and runs for two kilometres a day but he might require another round of surgery this year."

Good going, fella!
