Joe Biden Says None Of His Family Will Be Part Of His Administration

Joe Biden has said none of his family will be part of his administration.

In his first interview as president, Biden made it clear he would be keeping work and family separate - in stark contrast to predecessor Donald Trump, who employed several family members as advisors.

Speaking to People, he said: "We're going to run this like the Obama-Biden administration.

"No one in our family and extended family is going to be involved in any government undertaking or foreign policy. And nobody has an office in this place."

But while none of his family will have jobs at the White House, Biden says he will lean on his wife of 43 years Dr Jill throughout his tenure.

Asked whether he could do the job without her, Biden said: "We each could do our jobs, but not as well as we do them.

"I don't think I would have stayed involved in public life. Jill came along at a really important point and put my family back together.

"She's the glue that held it together, and I knew that I wanted to marry her shortly after I met her. It's not that we don't fight and argue sometimes. I'm just lucky."

Like his family, none of his staff will have a place in his office either if they treat others disrespectfully.

Swearing in hundreds of presidential staff at the White House last month, he said: "I'm not joking when I say this, if you're ever working with me and I hear you treat another colleague with disrespect, talk down to someone, I promise you I will fire you on the spot.

"On the spot. No ifs, ands or buts.

"Everybody, everybody is entitled to be treated with decency and dignity."

He continued: "We have to restore the soul of this country and I'm counting on all of you to be part of that. And it's not hyperbole. The only thing I expect with absolute certitude is honesty and decency."
