Hey, in the modern world, we all like to stand out a bit. Maybe with a new hair colour, or even a meaningful tattoo.

But this lad has taken the concept of a make-over to new extremes, shelling out over 6,000 quid on body modifications including his most recent feat... ear removal. Suddenly that new fringe doesn't seem so cutting-edge.

Sandro - or as he's known on social media, Mr Skull Face - has had a number of procedures, including forehead and back-of-the-hand implants and tongue splitting,

The 39-year-old from Finsterwalde in Germany went for the ear removal in 2019, keeping the remainder of his surgery in a jar. Yikes.

While he insists the drastic look is simply his own personal preference, and nothing to do with looking 'cool', Sandro still receives a fair bit of criticism online.

He said: "My transformation has influenced my life, but I don't care. I should be accepted as a person, and above all because of my inner values.

"My appearance has had a huge impact on my chances of getting a job because a lot of companies are still very conservative and prefer to go with the flow.

"I think that I have often been rejected from jobs because of my appearance.

"I think that it has of course had an effect on me finding a relationship, as it scares most people off, but of course, many people also find it very interesting.

"Friends have tried to talk me out of the modifications, especially when it came to cutting off my ears, but I'm just a person who likes to go his own way.

"If people stare I really don't care. If someone says something like 'you are a sick old man' then I will answer with 'thank you for the compliment'.

"Negative comments go in one side and out the other. It has strengthened my self-confidence above all."

So despite the haters, Sandro is planning his next mods - having the tip of his nose removed and his eyeballs tattooed.

According Sandro, his attraction to such procedures all started in 2007 after seeing a person on telly with spikes implanted in their head.

Since then, he's had 17 extreme body mods, as well as face tattoos and piercings.

But while he's all for this style of living, Sandro warns anyone who's thinking of doing the same to exercise extreme caution - especially when it comes to their reasons for doing it.

"If you're a beginner, do long and thorough research, think carefully about everything and take your time," he added.

"Above all, never do something just because you want to be more blatant or cool with it; it has to come from the heart and be for yourself."
