One of the people who tragically died in the Leicester City helicopter crash was a former Miss Universe Thailand runner-up.

Nursara Suknamai was on board the helicopter with 60-year-old Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, Eric Swaffer, 53, Izabela Roza Lechowicz, 46, and Kaveporn Punpare.

Suknamai was a former beauty queen who came second in Miss Universe Thailand in 2005, where she also won the title of Miss Photogenic, the Daily Mail reports.

Leicester City, where Srivaddhanaprabha was chairman, released a statement in which it said 'the world had lost a great man', before saying he was 'a man of kindness, of generosity and a man whose life was defined by the love he devoted to his family'.

A book of condolence will be open from 8am tomorrow morning at the King Power Stadium for fans to pay their respects.

The fatal crash took place after Leicester's 1-1 draw at home to West Ham on Saturday night.

The helicopter took off from the centre circle of the pitch at around 8.30pm, but witnesses have said that shortly after the engine cut out and it began to spiral out of control.

A witness also told Sky Sports: "(My nephew) saw this helicopter out of control then drop within a second and burst into flames. He was so upset - we're all thinking about the owners here and what they've done for the football club. It's awful, you can't believe it."

Leicestershire Police said in a statement: "Five people are believed to have died when a helicopter crashed outside the King Power Stadium yesterday evening (Saturday 27 October).

"The five people were on board the helicopter when the incident happened. While formal identification has not yet taken place, they are believed to be Leicester City Football Club chairman Vichai Srivaddhanaprabha, two members of his staff, Nursara Suknamai and Kaveporn Punpare, pilot Eric Swaffer and passenger Izabela Roza Lechowicz.

"The force has been working to ensure that all the relevant next of kin had been informed prior to this information being confirmed publicly.

"The aircraft came down in a car park near the stadium shortly after 8.30pm with Leicestershire Police, East Midlands Ambulance Service and Leicestershire Fire and Rescue Service all responding to the incident. No one else is believed to have been injured.

"The Air Accidents Investigation Branch (AAIB) is leading the investigation into the accident and a cordon remains in place at the scene while enquiries continue."
