A man has created what could just be the world's cruellest prank, having Photoshopped Wally out of an entire Where's Wally book and then returned it to the book shop, leaving it for for someone to buy and SPEND THE REST OF THEIR LIFE TRYING TO FIND HIM.

Seriously, that is mean. And absolutely ingenious. And just... Wow.

The trickster in question is a YouTuber called Blake Messick, who filmed the prank underway before uploading the footage to TikTok to his 306,000 followers.

In the clip, we see him stroll into a book shop and pick up The Great Waldo Search (Where's Waldo is the North American name for the Where's Wally series, by the way), in which readers are encouraged to track down a tiny image of a man in a striped jumper and glasses. It's difficult at the best of times.

Messick pays up and walks out of the shop with his purchase - only to open up Adobe Photoshop on his computer.

We then see him cleverly removing Wally from each page, before printing it all out and subtly pasting the results into the book.

At this point, you wonder where things are going to go from here, but seconds later our worst fears are realised when we see him walking back into the book shop... And over to the shelf where he'd picked up the original book.

Yup, you've guessed it: he puts the new version onto the shelf, and walks away.

The most savage mic drop there ever was.

Messick's twisted TikTok video - which was captioned 'my idea of a perfect crime? I'll show you' - has so far been viewed 5.2 million times.

It was also shared on Twitter, where it unsurprisingly went viral, racking up more than 6.6 million views, 122,000 retweets and 453,000 likes.

Oh, and a lot of comments. People are NOT happy.

One person commented: "This is actually the most villainous act I've ever witnessed. I am equal parts impressed and horrified."

Someone else said the man 'should be arrested', while another quipped it could be an alternative 'Joker origin story'.

A fourth chipped in: "Some people just want to watch the world burn..."

Many also asked what kind of animal would do such a thing knowing that they'd never get to even see the results.
