Many people are concerned for Chanel the African Grey following what has happened to her owner in recent days.

For those unaware, the woman who gained viral fame for losing her African Grey parrot, named Chanel, has been charged over a £792,000 cannabis haul.

Let me just take you back to April 2020, when sitting indoors all day and clapping for the NHS was a daily occurance. Odd times, eh.

Well, back then, a rather hilarious video went viral online of Sandra Hannah, after she filmed herself crying and desperately asking the internet for help after losing her beloved pet parrot.

Thankfully, Hannah, from Cumberland Gate, Netherton, was reunited with Chanel after she escaped through her the water bowl gate on her cage.

But in July 2021, Chanel managed to escape again, prompting Hannah to once take to social media for help amid her second wild parrot chase.

On TikTok, she explained: "Hi guys, I'm so sorry I need your help again, it's not a joke.

"Chanel flew off again. Please I don't know what to do, but if anyone sees her you know what she's like.

"She just flew off. I'm so sorry, just please, if anyone sees her please contact me."

Fast forward to 2023 and Chanel's owner is in a fair bit of trouble, as Merseyside Police have charged her and a 55-year-old man, named Ian Hannah, on suspicion of the importation of cannabis and possession of criminal property on Friday (21 April).

Officers found 237.6kg of cannabis resin imported from Spain after a two-day operation, Liverpool Echo reports.

Police have said this stash has been valued at around £792,000. Both parties have been remanded in custody and appeared at Magistrates’ Court on Friday.

Now, people's attention have turned to Chanel the African Grey, now that her owner is being kept in custody.

Many are wondering who is now taking care of Chanel.

One of those to voice concerns about the parrot is Married at First Sight star Thomas Hartley, who worries that the internet famous African Grey may end up at the RSPCA.

In a rather amusing TikTok, Hartley joked that Chanel could now be 'repossessed' and could also be hiding in a 'pigeon shed' escaping punishment from the drug crime.

Now that would be some plot twist, Hannah is completely innocent and is covering for Chanel.

Others have also flocked to social media to voice their concerns as to how Chanel is doing these days.

Hopefully, a family member or friend is taking good care of the world-famous African Grey.
