People on social media are only just discovering that door springs have an 'extra' use. Watch the viral explainer vid below:

As far as TikTok hacks go, this one seems simple enough for us to have clocked onto, although, that definitely hasn't been the case.

Many are aware of the conventional reason why door springs are used, and that's to stop the door from smashing into the wall, right?

However, this TikToker, who goes by the user tag @the_artful_odds, came up with the idea of putting the spring underneath the door, rather than up against it, which manages to hold the door open.

*Mind blown*

The hack went viral on TikTok.

The viral clip racked up 1.5 million views, and many in the comments were left flabbergasted.

One user commented: "i learn something today."

A second wrote: "wow I honestly didn't know this thankyou."

Someone else added: "Lmaoo I thought it just stopped the door from hitting the wall."

A fourth user went on to say: "omg random tik tok but I never ever knew this," while another joked: "OK at this point I don’t even know if I’m breathing correctly."

The TikToker cleared up the video by commenting: "The intended purpose of the spring was never to hold your door open.

"I just added an extra use IF you have a wall guard for the knob."

Speaking of TikTok hacks, one man (@thelastjoey) has come up with an ingenious hack to work from home without doing any work.

With WFH becoming a regular occurrence for many, some workplaces had fancy tech that would tell an employer if a staffer hadn't moved their mouse in a while.

The vacuum cleaner gave the perfect solution.

Well, this user found a solution and posted a video of his computer mouse attached to a robot vacuum cleaner as it drove around the house.

Not only does this method keep him online with his work computer, but it also helps keep the house clean.

The man caveated that this was 100 percent a joke, just in case his boss saw the viral video and thought he was slacking off at home.

His clip has gone absolutely bonkers on TikTok and has been seen more than 11 million times.
